About

Hello!
I'm Matt Waelder,
a full-stack developer

myself

I'm someone who's always loved the process of building, whether that's building a nice looking application, an efficient data pipeline, or something more physical; it's all very rewarding. I first got into coding a few years ago, and, because of how much I've enjoyed it, I've decided to pursue a career in software engineering! After getting the fundamentals of JavaScript down I decided to take a very big leap, and in 2022 I attended and graduated from Hack Reactor. Since graduating I've been building applications in my spare time while continuing to work and apply for developer roles. If you've got recommendations for technologies, suggestions for my apps, or are someone who's hiring for an engineering or developer position, let's have a chat!

Projects

project image
PetScale

A utility created for pet owners to track the weight of their pets over time. This application is hosted on AWS utilizing an nginx reverse proxy. I use this for my pets.

project image
Assay Utility

A utility I created in conjunction with a discord community for use within a game. This utility provides insight into whether or not a certain rock is worth mining.

project image
Community Crossing

Fully-featured, full-stack social media application build with 6 other developers in one week. Firestore handles Auth, a CDN stores user content, and coffee supported the developers!

project image
mattspigs.com

A website I created about my guinea pigs using pure html, css, and javascript. So many class toggles!

project image
Fresh Threadz

E-commerce front end built with React. This was built with a team of engineers; I was in charge of the reviews component.

project image
System Design

The backend portion of a mock e-commerce website. The service is designed to support 10,000+ users.

project image
React Calculator

A "simple" calculator created with React and Javascript. There's a lot I didn't know about calculators until trying to make one myself, it's deceptively complex.

project image
Walk the Plank!

A game of hangman, sans gallows. This is my first project utilizing TypeScript and React together. I've had so much fun building and playing this game, give it a try!

project image
Object Enumerator

A program that identifies cars and counts them as they cross a camera's field of view. This project uses Tensorflow.js and was my first attempt at using computer vision in any application.

project image
Watcher

AI generated art that moves its eyes to follow you. Object detection is handled by Tensorflow.js. I had a lot of fun working out how to move the eyes.
